The History Of Our Church
In August of 1999 the Lord deposited into the spirit of Rev. Renée Marshall the seed to plant a new African Methodist Episcopal Church. After much prayer and consulation with her pastor and presiding elder, Rev. Marshall put into motion what was needed to begin Bethel.
On Sunday October 24, 1999 at 4:00 p.m. Bethel held its first worship service at the Godwin Middle School in Dale City. Four people joined the church that Sunday afternoon and Bethel was duly launched. Over the course of the next several years Bethel grew to its current memebership of dedicated men, women, youth and children.
The members of Bethel are committed to serving the Lord Jesus Christ by serving the citizens of Dale City and the surrounds. The members: currently work with the homeless shelter in Woodbridge; have adopted families; participated in school supply distribution; sponsored a community outreach day and are always looking for new ways to spread the love of Jesus Christ through service and outreach.
Bethel has a vibrant worship and teaching ministry which includes a men’s choir, a liturgical dance ministry, men’s ministry, Sunday church school and Thursday Bible study.
